Teacher Appreciation Week 2027: dates, a day-by-day plan and a sign-up sheet
May 3 – 7, 2027 · Start organizing by April 5
Teacher Appreciation Week is the first full week of May in the US: May 3 – 7, 2027, with National Teacher Day on the Tuesday. Most PTAs and room parents plan one small thing per day, and a shared sign-up sheet keeps every family from bringing muffins on Monday.
Dates are for planning. Schools, workplaces and cities sometimes move them, so check locally. Dates checked October 2026

The class gift
A card every family signs, plus the pooled gift
You don't need all five. Two or three well-covered days beat five half-empty ones, especially at a small school.
Start about three weeks ahead
Ask the front office for the staff count (aides, specialists, office staff and custodians included) and any allergy rules for food brought into school.
Check gift rules. Some districts limit what staff may accept or prefer group gifts over individual ones.
Share the sign-up link about two weeks before, so families can plan a grocery run.
Families who leave an email get an automatic reminder the day before their slot.
Budget and the class gift
Many room parents suggest $5 to $10 per family for the class gift and say clearly that any amount, or none, is welcome. Every family signs the card either way. A group gift card plus a card full of specific memories is usually remembered longer than a stack of mugs. The teacher gift collection template does both on one link, with the money going straight to you.
Food in school
Label anything with nuts, keep cold food cold, and put one person in charge of the staff lunch setup so food isn't left out all afternoon. If your school is nut-free, say so in the sheet's details.
Questions
When is Teacher Appreciation Week 2027?
May 3 – 7, 2027. It is the first full week of May, and National Teacher Day is the Tuesday of that week.
How much should each family give for the teacher gift?
There is no standard amount. Many room parents suggest $5 to $10 per family and say clearly that any amount, or none, is fine, and that every family signs the card either way.
Should we include staff who are not classroom teachers?
Many schools do: aides, specialists, office staff, nurses and custodians. Ask the office for a staff count before you decide how many dishes the lunch needs.
Do parents need an account to sign up?
No. They open your link, tap a day or a dish and type their name.
